Ava Vincent was born in 1975 in the Northern California hamlet of Placerville. After graduating from high school, she went to L.A. to attend theater school. A job in an adult bookstore got her interested in the scene. She entered the profession in 1998 as Jewel Valmont. In the year 2000 she changed her stage name to "Ava Vincent" because her fans and employers confused her with by other actresses who had "Jewel" as part of their name: Jessica Jewel, Jewel De'Nyle, etc. Ava Vincent has lost about 20lbs to increase her popularity (2001). On 2 July 2001 she married John Decker; she wore a China-doll dress at the Las Vegas wedding. She also won several awards in 2001. In 2002, Ava Vincent and John Decker divorced.
