Biography:
Born in Russia, Vicca and Nikita came to the States in 1996 and 1997, respectively. Prior to that, they traveled throughout Europe, working as models in countries such as Italy, Poland, and Hungary. When I met them recently at the VCA corporate offices in Chatsworth, they exhibited a degree of worldliness far beyond their tender years. Fluent in many languages - including English, Russian and Hungarian - they're also highly coversant in such subjects as art, fashion, and literature.
Yet in spite of all Vicca and Nikita's attributes, many directors insist on stereotyping them as dumb girls who don't speak a word of English or - even more predictably - as Russian spies. But Vicca and Nikita's feathers are not so easily ruffled. In fact, their sense of humor about life in general is one of their greatest charms. Consequently, being totally taken by the girls' eccentric mix of camp, surrealism, and general loopiness, I predict they'll soon have their own TV sitcom - well, a rabid cult following, at the very least. As you can well imagine, I was very glad to have brought along my video camera for our interview, since I would have hated to lose the hilarious nuances of Vicca and Nikita's many off-the-wall pronouncements
